A passion for photography as a teenager pretty much guaranteed a career behind the lens in later life. The thrill of developing and printing my own black & white images in the dark room has never left me. I started working in the televison industry as a runner (tea-boy and general do-it-all) for what was Carlton Studios. I progressed to their Outside Broadcast division where I spent a couple of years as a camera assistant before going freelance. I learned whatever I could from all the very experienced cameramen that I worked for, who were always happy to explain what they were doing and how it created an interesting image. Completely invaluable experience. I went to film school in 1994 at what was formerly Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design, where I shot an award winning Fujifilm Scholarship graduation film - 'A Frozen Chicken Saves The Soap's Day' - Dir: Declan ODwyer I progressed through the ranks of Clapper Loader and Focus Puller to Camera Operator & Lighting |
